By pairing a carbon fiber core with a high-purity quartz shell, we’ve made something that turns electricity into raw infrared radiation almost instantly. The power side of things 1500W at 230V is a lot of punch. It’s exactly why these things hit operating temperature in a matter of seconds. But a quick heads-up: make sure your power supply can actually handle that initial surge. You don’t want to be the person tripping the breakers in the middle of a shift. Also, if you’re wiring a whole bunch of these into one array, do yourself a favor and use a PID controller. It keeps the quartz from getting pushed too hard and burning out. Why carbon fiber? Here’s the thing about carbon fiber: it doesn’t sag. Old-school nichrome wire tends to droop when it gets screaming hot, but carbon fiber stays put. Plus, it puts out heat differently, and the quartz envelope keeps everything from oxidizing while letting that infrared energy fly right through. One big warning, though.Quartz is fragile. Seriously, don’t touch the tube with your bare hands when you’re installing it. The oils from your skin leave invisible marks that create “hot spots.” Once the tube heats up, those spots cause the glass to crack. Grab some lint-free gloves and you’ll be fine. Putting it to work These are great as drop-in replacements for your industrial drying, curing, or PET blowing lines. Because of the carbon fiber, the heat spreads much more evenly across the tube than you’d get with standard coils. Just remember that cramming 1500W into such a small space creates an incredible amount of radiant heat. Your housing and reflectors need to be up to the task. If your cooling fans are too small, you’re looking at warped brackets or fried wiring. It’s worth double-checking your airflow before you flip the switch.
