Getting into the core of the problem
Most shops use standard convection ovens. The problem is that those ovens heat the outside first. You’re basically waiting for the heat to slowly crawl its way to the center. This leads to a “skin effect.” The outside gets over-baked and brittle while the middle is still soft. Not a great recipe for a safe brake pad. Shortwave IR is different. It triggers a faster, tighter bond, giving you a dense, stable pad that doesn’t wear down or scream at the driver.

The best part? You aren’t waiting around for a massive oven to soak. Your cycle times drop significantly. It’s fast. Really fast. But there’s a catch. Because the heat is so intense, you can’t just “set it and forget it.” If you overshoot the temperature, you’ll scorch the resin and ruin the batch.
